Ukraine fulfills its obligations in the field of culture on implementing the Association Agreement between the Ukraine and the European Union

Deputy Minister of Culture for European Integration Andrii Vitrenko took part in the first EU - Ukraine Association Committee Meeting. In Brussels he presented the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine report on execution of the Action Plan for implementation of the Association Agreement between the Ukraine and the European Union Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.

 

Namely, in accordance to Art.451 of the Association Agreement one of the priorities of the Ministry is the issue of the Ukraine's participation in the EU program "Creative Europe".

 

As for now, the consultations with the EC are held in order to prepare the final draft of the Agreement between the Ukraine and the EC on the Ukraine's participation in the EU program "Creative Europe", to sign it in the nearest future (tentatively, early October this year), and to clarify the subsequent mechanisms for its implementation.

 

In accordance with the Art. 437 of the Association Agreement, Ministry of Culture has elaborated a draft of concept note for establishing the Taras Shevchenko Ukrainian Institute. The main goals of establishing such an institution are spreading information about the culture of Ukraine in the world, ensuring presence of the Ukrainian culture in the global informational space and promotion of national cultural product on the world market. Following up the results of public presentation and debates held last month, a working group for implementation of the concept note is to be established. This working group will consist of representatives of governmental bodies and the public. The relevant governmental act establishing the Taras Shevchenko Ukrainian Institute is expected to be adopted by the end of this year.

 

In accordance with Art. 437-444 of the Association Agreement Ministry of Culture is working on establishing the Ministry Council for Reforms in order to implement international experience of building cultural policy. Culture experts from France, Poland, Georgia and Lithuania have been invited to take part in this Council.

 

Ministry of Culture proceeds its work on elaboration of the Strategy for the Ukrainian Culture till 2025. In particular, the draft Strategy has passed the procedure of public discussion. Useful suggestions and comments on it have been taken into account. The draft Strategy has also received a positive review from RMCBU (Regional Monitoring and Capacity Building Unit (RMCBU) of the Eastern Partnership). The relevant legal act for approving the Strategy for the Ukrainian Culture is expected to be elaborated and adopted in the nearest future.
